**NEW DATE** Training Day Sunday, April 26, 2015 Started/Young Dogs & Beginner Handlers
Started/Young Dogs & Beginner Handlers Training day for April 19 and 24 is rescheduled to Sunday, April 26th due to severe weather and rain.
Beginner Handlers and Started Dogs are invited and encouraged to attend this great training opportunity!
Southern Flight HRC would like to continue helping our young dogs and handlers this year. Group events like this are a great time to see how your training has come along since the first of the year as well as train your retriever in a more "exciting" environment than your normal training grounds.
This event is offered at no charge and is open to anyone looking to have a better trained hunting companion this winter! And, if you are interested in learning more about Retriever Hunt Tests, be sure to join us!
During this event, you will have the chance to evaluate your hunting companion in several areas including:
Basic obedience such as Sit, Heel, Here:How many times have you said to a friend, "I don't what has gotten into that dog today. He/She NEVER does that at home!"
Steadiness in a holding blind: This is an important trained skill with a hunting retriever. You want a calm hunting buddy that does not spook the game before you have the chance to shoot it!
Steadiness at "the line": "The line" is where the action is. For safety and marking accuracy, your hunting retriever should sit quietly while you shoot the birds and remain sitting until you send him/her for the retrieves. The line simulates a real hunting environment with duck calls, the firing of the shotgun and control.
Mechanics of a hunt test. If you would like to test your retriever's abilities in an HRC Hunt Test, then be sure to join us. You will have many experienced handlers available to walk you through the mechanics and help you be a better handler.
Young dog help: If you have a young dog and really are not sure where to begin, please join us. The SFHRC family loves to help new dogs and handlers become a great team!
Whether you are a kid, or a kid at heart.... have a brand new puppy or an older retriever, come and join the fun! Club members and professional dogs trainers will be available to help you with some ideas and to answer questions. Kids love to see the dogs work and they will have the chance to work with some dogs too if they want. There will be several experienced dogs available to help teach new handlers a few things too! If you think your puppy is too young for something like this, think again. It is a great opportunity for you to socialize your retriever and work on some obedience!
Bring the family, a chair, your hunting retriever and be prepared to have a good time! Dressing in camo is a plus but any dark colored clothing is perfectly fine.
Location: Online Labs 451 Mississippi 310 Como, MS 38619 Steve Vires, with Online Labs, has been gracious enough to offer his property for this training event. The club appreciates Steve's generosity!
