Building a Finished Retriever Seminar Series
Basics of Retriever Training - Part 1 of 3
March 28, 2015
Join Southern Flight HRC on Saturday, March 28th, for the first of three great seminars that are designed to give you the tools to build a Finished level retriever.
The first seminar will cover obedience training, collar conditioning, force fetch, walk and fetch and force to pile. This seminar will help you learn how to build a solid foundation for your retriever and will build into the next two seminars which will be approximately three months apart. They are designed to build a Finished retriever.
The club is pleased to have pro-trainer Clark Kennington with Kennington Retrievers conduct this seminar discussing the importance of building a solid foundation with basic retriever training. He will demonstrate effective training practices to help you teach your young retriever as well as how to re-enforce the lessons. This seminar will build into and set the stage for the next seminar which Clark will conduct about three months later.
Obedience training will cover basics such as Sit, Here, Heel. The collar conditioning portion will demonstrate how the e collar is correctly introduced to your dog. Force fetch is often considered one of the most intimidating aspects of retriever training but it is a very important skills your hunting companion can have, especially if you would like to participate in higher level hunt tests. He will wrap up with force to pile.
Bring a notepad, a chair and be ready to take home some valuable lessons to work on with your retriever.
